MoviePass

  1. Unlimited Movies For the Masses

Moviepass is a club (subscription) offering members unlimited movies in theaters nationwide.

This innovative business model needed equally innovative product touchpoints.

  2. The man of many hats

In the early days of a startup, we all take on roles outside of traditional silos. As the PM, Designer and Frontend Developer, I was tasked with conceptualizing and building the moviepass product from the ground up.

  3. Unlimited Movies For the Masses

The product idea was hatched while on a trip to the supermarket I noticed the stack of reloadable Visa cards...

  5. GPS + Reloadable Debit Card

To mitigate fraud and to give the experience a “cool factor,” I strategized a simple mobile product. Check-in to a theater via GPS (Android or iPhone) to “activate” your Moviepass card, then purchase a ticket.

I even helped get the idea patented.

  8. Quick Execution

From soup to nuts, design to deploy, we launched the first version of this product in 3 months.

    • UX - I fleshed out the vision, storyboarded the interaction, site mapped the various interfaces, wire framed up the product to sell to my boss and designed ui aesthetics for both web and mobile.
    • Partnerships - I worked closely with our partner, getting everything we needed out of the API including card fulfillment, reloading, temporary blocking and reporting.
    • Product Management - I then managed a team of distributed developers from San Francisco, New York and Pakistan; even coded all the CSS & HTML for desktop and mobile webviews.

Just 3 months later we came out with the product for iPhones. After a few weeks we had over 7,000 paid members, and a few months later the Android version was in the Play Store.
